Adam Charles receives inaugural Kavli Institute Collaboration Kickstarter (KICK) grant

Join us to congratulate Adam Charles, Principal Investigator at Kavli NDI, on receiving the inaugural Kavli Institute Collaboration Kickstarter (KICK) grant, in partnership with Su Guo, Professor of Bioengineering affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Fundamental Neuroscience (KIFN) at the University of California, San Francisco.

Their collaborative project aims to unravel the molecular and cellular neural circuits underlying risk-taking behavior using the zebrafish model. The team’s work holds promise for developing new strategies to treat psychiatric disorders, bridging cutting-edge neuroscience and bioengineering. Learn more about the KICK grant here.

In 2024, The Kavli Foundation launched the Kavli Institute Collaboration Kickstarter (KICK) grant program to spark innovative, cross-disciplinary research across its 20 global institutes. Recognizing the diverse expertise and curiosity within the Kavli community, KICK grants were designed to bring together rearchersfrom two or more institutes to explore fresh ideas and collaborative projects. These grants provide moderate funding for short-term projects or pilots lasting up to 10 months. New initiatives are already underway, bridging fields suchas astrophysics, nanoscience, and neuroscience, and fostering meaningful connections across the Kavli network.
