How does sensory experience shape the molecular architecture of the brain?

Kavli NDI PI, Patrick Kanold’s latest work with the Allen Institute for Brain Sciences and Antony Zador at Coldspring Harbor Lab sheds light the role of visual inputs on defining the transcriptomic landscape of the visual cortex.

Using a powerful brain mapping technique, Bar-Seq, that tags neurons with ‘RNA barcodes’ the team showed that absence of vision morphs the cellular composition of the visual cortex. Learn more about Bar seq here. Read more about the work here.
